MEMBERSHIP
How do I cancel my membership?
You can cancel your membership anytime by going to your profile and clicking on “Account Details” on the menu, and then clicking “Submit” to cancel membership.
What membership options are available to EcoDater members?
We offer two kinds of membership – free membership and premium membership. Free membership allows you to create a profile and upload a single photo, do a basic search for other EcoDaters, contact other free EcoDaters, post EcoPolls, and participate in our blog and links section.
Premium Membership includes all the benefits of free membership in addition to being able to upload an unlimited number of photos, contact both free and premium EcoDaters, use advanced search and keyword search, use the EcoMatch feature, and enjoy top priority in search results.

How much does premium membership cost?
We will always offer a FREE Membership option. But for a limited time, you can sign up for a FREE Premium Membership which gives you more options in the dating platform. If you want to help keep EcoDater FREE, just shop at any of the websites we have listed on our main page at the bottom, or at www.ecodater.com/freestuff.htm However, in the event that we must start to charge a membership fee to cover the site's expenses to stay online, we will accept money orders or payments with a PayPal account.
Please note that even if you choose to sign up for a regular Free Membership, you can still upgrade to a Premium membership for FREE within the EcoDater membership section after you have completed creating your profile on the Membership Options page. Note that sometimes it takes 2 business days to approve memberships because all profiles must be hand-approved by the Admin in order to keep spammers and scammers out of this site. We appreciate your patience.
Is my premium membership automatically renewed?
Yes, your premium membership remains active until you cancel your membership from your profile page. If you want to cancel, we have made it very easy for you to cancel your membership anytime - simply navigate to your profile page, click the "Account Details" tab, and click the "Submit" button next to cancel your membership.
What is your refund policy for premium memberships?
Well, as long as we're giving away FREE Premium Memberships, there is no need for a refund policy because we don't want your money right now. However, we DO want your help! Help us keep EcoDater FREE by shopping at any of the websites we have listed on www.ecodater.com/freestuff.htm
But in the event that we are forced to charge membership fees to cover operating expenses, we will have a refund policy in place. We will give you a full refund for the portion of the monthly cycle that you didn’t use.
For example, if you joined on the 5th of April and decide to cancel two days later on the 7th of April, we will refund the entire unused portion of the upcoming monthly cycle, from the 7th of April (the day you canceled) to the 5th of May, your next scheduled billing date. If you don’t cancel, then your membership would be automatically renewed on the 5th of May and on the 5th of each subsequent month.
What methods of payment do you accept?
At the moment, there are NO MEMBERSHIP FEES and NO UPGRADE FEES. Everything is FREE. However, if you would like to send a donation to show that you appreciate being able to use the site for FREE, please get in touch with me at info@ecodater.com.
How do I upgrade to premium membership?
If you are a free EcoDater, you can upgrade to premium membership anytime by going to your profile and clicking the red “Upgrade Now” button next to your profile photo. We’ll walk you through the rest of the process from there.
MY PROFILE
How do I change/update my profile information?
You can change just about anything in your profile. On your profile page, click the “Edit” button next to the “About Me” link in the menu. You can then change any response and click the “Submit” button at the bottom to update your profile.
You can also edit your "About My Match" preferences in the same way - just click on the "Edit" button next to "About My Match" on your member profile page.
How do I change my account information, including email address, location, and password?
Easy! Go to your profile page and click on “Account Details” in the menu. You can change your email address, location, and password right here, then click the “Save” button.
Does my profile stay visible after I cancel my membership?
No. Your profile disappears forever once you cancel your membership. If you decide to join us again in the future, you’ll have to start from scratch.
If I forgot my username or password, how do I retrieve it?
You can have a temporary password sent to the email address you used when you registered by clicking on “Forgot Password” in the login section on the upper right of every page.
In order to retrieve your username, send us an email with the approximate date you joined and whether you are a free or premium EcoDater.
Can I hide my profile?
No, your profile is always public, but you can always select “Prefer not to say” for any of the profile questions. You can edit your profile by clicking the “Edit” button in the menu on your profile page.
We are working on increasing privacy options for our members and will be implementing this feature at a later date. We'll let you know when it's ready for use by making an announcement on the EcoDater blog. If you want to read more about how we handle member privacy, please read our Privacy Policy.
What advice can you give me about creating my profile?
We always encourage you to answer as many of the questions in your profile as possible, so that other EcoDaters can get a good idea of who you are. Be sure to write about yourself in the text box on your profile, and about your ideal match in the "About My Match" text box, which you can find by clicking "Edit" next to "About My Match" on your profile page.
Make sure you upload a profile photo, since profiles with photos are contacted far more frequently than profiles without a photo. If you are a premium EcoDater, take advantage of our unlimited photo feature and upload as many photos as you want. More photos will help other EcoDaters get a better sense of you and your interests.
Make sure your photos show your face clearly. A photo in which other EcoDaters need a magnifying glass to see your face is probably not ideal for your profile. Your photo can be of you performing some kind of activity to give other EcoDaters an idea of what you enjoy doing with your time, or it can just be of you sitting on a chair with a blank expression on your face – whatever you think shows other EcoDaters the true you.
Is my information private?
You choose what profile information to display to other EcoDaters. For more information on how we use the information you provide us during registration, please read our Privacy Policy. Your privacy is of the utmost importance to us, and it’s something we take very seriously.
SEARCH
How do I search for other EcoDater members?
You can do a Quick Search from the EcoDater homepage. You can also do a Quick Search by clicking on the “Search” tab on the navigation bar at the top of the page.
Free EcoDaters have access to Quick Search only. Premium EcoDaters also have access to Advanced Search and Keyword Search (as well as the unique EcoMatch search). You can upgrade by clicking “Upgrade Now” from your profile page.
What is Quick Search?
This is the easiest kind of search but also the broadest. You can select gender, age and location in Quick Search. You can also choose to display only profiles that have photos.
What is Advanced Search?
Only premium EcoDaters have access to Advanced Search. This opens up a long list of possible search variables, including education level, body type, personality type, leisure activities and much more. This is the best way to find that special EcoDater who fits your ideal vision of a mate.
What is Keyword Search?
Only premium EcoDaters have access to Keyword Search. Type any word or phrase into the search box and Keyword Search scans every EcoDater’s profile for that word or phrase.
For example, let’s say that you’re passionate about crab fishing and you want to find other crab fishing lovers on EcoDater. Type in “crab fishing” and we’ll search through all profiles and show you anyone who typed “crab fishing” in their profile. Now send them a message!
How does EcoMatch work?
Only premium EcoDaters have access to EcoMatch. EcoMatch is an awesome tool and unique to EcoDater. Based on the answers you gave us when you created your profile, we’ll search all our EcoDaters and show you your best matches.
The more answers you provided about your ideal match when you created your profile, the better we can match you to other EcoDaters. Before you try this feature, go back to your profile (the “About My Match” tab on your profile page) and make sure you’ve provided as many answers as possible.
The EcoMatch Rating is displayed in each profile in the search results as a number between 1 and 100. The higher the number, the better the match!
MAKING CONTACT
How do I contact another EcoDater?
If you know the profile name of the person you’d like to contact, click on “Mail Box” on your profile page, then click on “Compose” and type in the profile name of the person you’re contacting. You can then type and edit your message right below.
The other way to contact EcoDaters is from their profile pages. First, use one of the search methods – free EcoDaters have access to Quick Search only, while premium EcoDaters also have access to Advanced Search, Keyword Search, and EcoMatch.
From the search results, click on a profile and then click on “Contact Me” in the menu on the left. Give your message a subject and then type and edit your message below. When you’re ready, click the Send button and your message will be delivered right away.
How do I know when another EcoDater has contacted me?
We’ll alert you on your profile page when a new message has arrived and we'll send you an email to the email address you gave us when you created a profile.
You can see how many new messages you have by looking at the menu on the left of your profile page, next to “Mail Box.” If that space is blank, then you don’t have any new messages.
How do I reply to an EcoDater who contacted me?
When you are alerted that you have a new message, click on the "Mail Box" tab, then click on the Subject of the message you want to read. You then have the option to Reply to the message or Delete the message.
If you are a free EcoDater, you can only reply to other free EcoDaters. If you are a premium EcoDater, you can reply to anyone.
As a free EcoDater, who can I contact?
You can only contact and reply to other free EcoDaters. If you want to contact or reply to a premium EcoDater, you need to upgrade to premium membership by clicking the red "Upgrade Now" button next your photo on your profile page.
How do I know if an EcoDater is a free member or a premium member?
This will be indicated in the search results for each profile no matter which search method you use. It is also displayed on the EcoDater's profile page, next to the profile photo.
PHOTOS
How do I upload a photo to my profile?
Log in to your profile and click the "Photos" tab on your profile page. If you are a free member, click the "Browse" button to pick a photo from your computer to upload, then click the "Upload Photo" button. Remember, as a free EcoDater you can only upload one photo (or swap out the profile photo you uploaded when you created your profile).
Premium EcoDaters, you can upload as many photos as you want. Just keep adding photos to the upload box by clicking the "Browse" button, selecting a photo from your computer, and clicking the "Add" button - do this for every photo you want to upload. Once all your photos are in the upload box, click the "Upload" button and your photos will be uploaded and imported into your Photos tab.
How do I delete a photo?
Your photos are displayed on your "Photos" tab, which you can find in the menu on your profile page. Check the little "Delete" box beneath the photos you want todelete, then click the "Submit" button.
How do I change my primary profile photo?
Under each photo on your "Photos" tab, there is a selection box labeled "Primary Photo." Just click the selection box for the photo that you want to make as your primary profile photo, then click the "Submit" button below.
How big of a photo can I upload?
1 MB is the maximum size per photo. All your photos can add up to more than 1 MB, but each one needs to be 1 MB or less in size. You can find out how big your photo is by hovering your mouse over the icon of the photo, or by right-clicking and selecting "Properties."
How many photos can I have?
As a free EcoDater, you can only have one photo. This is automatically your primary profile photo since you don't have any others to choose from. You can change your primary profile photo from the "Photos" tab on your profile page.
As a premium EcoDater, you can have as many photos as you'd like. There is no limit for premium EcoDaters.
ECOPOLLS
What are EcoPolls?
EcoPolls are a list of questions on a particular topic. By selecting a topic you like, answering the questions and posting the completed EcoPoll to your profile, other EcoDaters can learn more about you, the choices you make and the lifestyle you lead. Recent EcoPoll topics include "Driving Habits" and "How Eco-Friendly Are You?"
How do I post an EcoPoll to my profile?
Click on the "EcoPolls" tab in the top navigation bar from any window. Then select the EcoPoll you'd like to answer, enter your responses, and click "Submit" at the bottom when you're done. The EcoPoll will be automatically posted to your profile. Other EcoDaters can click on the "EcoPolls" tab on your profile to read your responses.
TREEMAIL NEWSLETTER
What is TreeMail?
TreeMail is the official EcoDater newsletter that is sent to all members on occasion, and contains updates on the site, new features, headlines from our blog, and profiles of featured EcoDaters.
How do I subscribe or unsubscribe to TreeMail, the EcoDater newsletter?
You can choose to subscribe to TreeMail when you register. If you didn’t do it then, you can always subscribe from your profile page by clicking on the “Account Details” button in the menu. You can unsubscribe from this page as well.
