How to Have an Awesome Hiking Date Using AllTrails
This is a guest post by Alex Karpman, founder of Datevitation - the web’s first and only totally custom love coupon platform where you can create a totally custom love coupon book or send electronic love coupons via email or Facebook. We have over 200 date options available including an entire category dedicated to active outdoor dates that I am sure the EcoDater community would enjoy!

Olga and I are so excited to do this guest post for the EcoDater community. Like you, we are both very eco-conscious, and we think it’s just great that this community exists to connect like-minded people. Given the site’s mission to bring together those who are passionate about the environment and nature, we thought we’d share with you a really great Smartphone application we have been using to find and track hikes. You see, Olga and I are a very active couple and we especially love to get outdoors and hike wherever we are in the world. We recently came across the AllTrails Smartphone application (available on iPhone & Android), and we used the application to find some great trails while we were vacationing in Hawaii. In the video above, you can see just how we used the application to find and track our hike up the Diamond Crater in Oahu. As you’ll see, the application was helpful in many respects, including:
  1. If you are traveling and want to find hikes in your area (or perhaps you would like to discover new hikes in your hometown), the application utilizes GPS technology to find the hikes nearest you.
  2. The application’s database includes over 40,000 trails so unless you are somewhere very remote, you can be sure there will be nearby hikes in the database. If there happens to be a hike that is not in the database, you can contribute to the AllTrails community by adding the trail directly into the application.
  3. While you are on the trail, the app tracks your route and at the end of your hike, you’ll get detailed stats on the hike you just completed, including distance covered, elevation gain, elapsed time, and elevation gained.
  4. You can take photos directly through the app during your hike, and they’ll get geo-tagged to the exact location you took them along the route.
  5. And best of all, it’s FREE. You can find out more information and download links on the AllTrails website.
Again, we think this is a fantastic app and we got a lot of great use out of it in Hawaii. We have even discovered some great trails near our home in Los Angeles. A nice hike (ideally one with a romantic view) is a wonderful idea for a date, or just to enjoy with family and friends. And the AllTrials app is just what you need to locate great trails near you!
