Creative Ideas for Ecofriendly Dating

Creating a romantic atmosphere and keeping things eco-friendly may seem like a challenge sometimes but it need not be. There are plenty of ways to keep your date interested, keep the romance alive and keep your organic mattress in use. Sometimes, you need to think outside of the box, be a bit more creative and think about alternative ecological ways to enjoy yourself on a romantic date. Here we’ll discuss some of the more creative ideas you could try out on your next date.
The Great Outdoors
If it’s first date, you could consider something low key but nonetheless impressive. Nothing is more enjoyable than a romantic country stroll. It’ll give you and your date a chance to get to know each other, lots of time for chatter and absolutely no effect on your carbon footprint. You could choose to visit a local park, go for a walk around a nature reserve or down the beach, giving you both a chance to admire nature but also get to know each other more intimately. If you get on well, you can arrange something more tailored to your dates taste on the next date.
Another way to enjoy the great outdoors and impress your date is to invite them on a hike or mountain bike ride and prepare a special romantic picnic. Using only the best local ingredients and ethically sourced ingredients, you can wow your date with your knowledge of the mountainous regions, not to mention your brilliant cooking skills. You could even source organic wines and beers to tempt your date. A date like this gives you two chances to really impress your date and express your true feelings. You’ll also have lots of time to chat, get close and enjoy each other’s company whilst sitting and enjoying the picnic.
Back to Basics - Hunter Gathering
If you’re feeling fruity, consider taking your date fruit picking or foraging. These are two fun filled activities which can really provide food for thought for you and your date. You can go out together, forage for some of the best natural produce the country has got to give. If you’re not sure of what’s edible and what’s not, do some quick online research into the local area and you’ll soon find out. If you don’t fancy taking your chances, there are loads of designated farms and areas that will let you pay to pick their produce. Once you and your date have been out and about selecting your ingredients, you can go back to your place or theirs and get creative. If you’re feeling really ambitious, what about making some jams? If not, pop one of those fresh berries into a glass of organic champagne and enjoy the flavour. Your date will be impressed with your ingenuity and again, like our previous ideas, you’ll have plenty of time to talk.
Thrift stores and flea markets
For city-dwellers who may find it a bit difficult to enjoy a countryside retreat, consider taking your date thrifting. Exploring the thrift stores around town is a great way of picking up some absolutely unique finds and you could even treat your date to a gift. Scouring thrift stores and flea markets is a great way to shop without impacting heavily on the environment and you can learn more about your date through their tastes in fashion, literature and music, discovered as you shop. When you’re all done, take them to your favourite eco-friendly café to enjoy a responsibly sourced meal. This kind of date is completely unique and something your date will never have experienced before, so perhaps, if nothing else, they’ll remember you!
If you’re looking for ways to spice up a longer term relationship, consider making a grander gesture. If you’re celebrating a particular event or special occasion, why not plant a tree in the name of your relationship or your partner? This is a great way of being totally eco-friendly, helping the environment and it’s a really special way to celebrate your relationship and your love for your partner. Once you’ve chosen your tree and the spot you wish to plant it, you can visit it whenever you want and remind yourselves of the special times in your relationship and the mark you made as a testament to it.
Finding fun and original ways to enjoy eco-friendly dating doesn’t have to be hard and this is just a few possible examples. By embracing the countryside, finding ways of avoiding increasing your carbon footprint and maximising on your talents, you’ll definitely be able to impress your date.
